Again this year, Istria Tourist Board in collaboration with the Istrian County Administrative Department for Tourism and Vinistra - the association of winemakers and winegrowers of Istria organize the ''Open Wine Cellar Day'' manifestation which has been traditionally held on the last Sunday in May. So that on Sunday, 30 May, from 10 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., more than 80 renowned winemakers all over Istria are opening their wine cellars' doors to the visitors thus marking the World's Wine Day which plays an important role in promoting wine culture and creating Istria's image as a recognizable wine destination. During the ''Open Wine Cellar Day'' wine lovers, as well as those who will become ones, will have the possibility to taste the best Istrian wines and find out the way winemakers make top quality and world renowned wines by combining the traditional and modern way of growing grape vines.

As we’ve already announced, again this year the International Extravirgin Oliveoil Agency in collaboration with ALMA – International School of Italian Cooking headed by famous Italian chef Gualtiero Marchesi and CRA - Olive Research Institute, organized the International Olive Oil Competition ''ARMONIA'' , ''ALMA'' Trophy. The fourth edition of the competition is intended for international producers of the best extra virgin olive oils, with the aim of promoting awareness and knowledge of extra virgin olive oil through harmonization of flavor in pairing food with olive oil in gourmet cooking schools and international restaurants in New York, Toronto, Montreal, Heidelberg, Sao Paolo, Tokyo, Seoul... After having achieved very good results the previous years, Istrian extra virgin olive oil producers took part in it again this year confirming the extraordinary quality of its extra virgin olive oils.

The second special gathering in Relais Monaco in Ponzano Veneto at the exhibition ''Venice meets Europe'' on 21st May. After a successful evening dominated by the king of the wines of Venice, an unavoidable event entitled ISTRIA, ITS WINES AND TASTES will take place. Istria is close, especially to Venice, due to which it became a part of the Venetian Republic – the Venetian started conquering a big part of Istria as early as 12th century – marking its dishes by homemade gastronomic tastes of the Venetian lagoon. The evening begins at 19.30 with a musical dedication to the Venetian Republic performed by ''La Tavola Armonica'', a 20 element band which combines old Venetian songs with recitals.
