In the early 2000s the owners of Oleum Maris were so courageous, that they planted one of the biggest olive groves in the south of the Istrian peninsula, in a territory that had been destroyed by fires. Today, also with the support of the local community, Vlado Corluka runs 60 hectares of olive grove with 14,500 trees and has supplied his estate with a new cellar, a tasting room, a sales point and a panoramic terrace. In the last harvest 3,000 quintals of olives and 360 hectolitres of oil were produced.
The very good Monovarietal Extra Virgin Oio Vivo - Žižolera is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with slight green hues. Its aroma is clean and rotund, endowed with fruity hints of unripe tomato, banana and white apple, together with aromatic notes of basil and parsley. Its taste is fine and complex, with a fragrant flavour of mint and a vegetal finish of lettuce and celery. Bitterness is distinct and pungency is present and well balanced.
