Olive Varieties

Indigenous varieties

Local Istrian variety, cultivated mostly in southern Istria.

Agro biological properties
Medium size, with rich, high growth. Dense foliage, with tight tapered leaves. The olives, gathered in bunches, are asymmetrical and slightly elongated, of medium weight, good consistency, rarely changing colour completely, and easy to harvest. If not harvested at the proper time, the drupes shrivel and become firmly attached to the tree making milling more difficult. The paste has the pleasant fragrance of a flower meadow.

Fruit bearing
Good and regular.

Within the species, and with local and introduced cultivars.

Resistance to adversities
Good resistance to the usual diseases and parasites, moderately resistant to lower temperatures.

Quality of the oil
Good characteristics, with high yield and noticeable spice.
